Balayage hair colour is big news and is showing no signs of diminishing in popularity.  But what is balayage and how can you get the look?  Read on to find out more…

What Is Balayage & Does It Work On Black Hair?

The word ‘balayage’ is French which means to “paint” or “sweep”.  It is a technique that involves painting vertical highlights to your hair in places where the sun might kiss your locks!   Balayage can be as subtle or as dramatic as you wish, using a wide range of colours from blondes, red to fashionable pastel colours – and can work beautifully on black women and afro hair types.

What Is The Difference Between Balayage and Ombré

The word ombré is derived from the French term for ‘shadow’. The ombré technique gives you a more defined colour contrast than a balayage , so that it often looks a little “two toned”. But, just like balayage, we can create an ombré look using a multitude of colours.
